FINISH WELL!

Been thinking a lot about living life in my mid 50’s. So many friends seem to be just getting by emotionally and spiritually. It’s almost like they have lost passion for life and this grieves me. Perhaps, they have not been truly living their calling in life? Bringing me next to ponder...in this race of life, are you striving to finish first rather than finish well?

The disciple Paul says in 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

This verse makes me pause and reflect. What race are YOU running? Is it with an eternal perspective? Are YOU so busy making a living that YOU aren’t making a life?

It’s never too late to begin again and finish well! Below are some thoughtful insights to “marinate in”.

Do you know that you are here for a UNIQUE purpose?

When you realize you are not promised tomorrow, it makes you want to live fully and intentionally each day. Have you ever wondered how God wants to use YOU?

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

-Jeremiah 1:5

Do you wake up each morning excited to start the day?

If the answer is “no”, then you may not be living your divine purpose. Perhaps it’s time to step back and evaluate what’s working in your life. Fear keeps us paralyzed, but change can be so freeing! Our comfort zones can be suffocating, when we get uncomfortable we start to conquer our fears.

“Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.”

– Helen Keller

Are you living in harmony with your values?

Take time to identify your top values and then figure out how to intentionally live into them. If you value a relationship with God first and then spouse and family, how is this reflected in your calendar or in your day-to-day life?

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

-Luke 12:34

As you take time to process, make sure to give yourself some grace. We can’t go back and rewrite the past but we can surely choose to finish well! Let's all find our stride and end up in the winner’s circle together not only in this life but in the one to come.
